Ben Caillous’s murals at Camping Amélia in Amélie-les-Bains bring an artistic and poetic dimension to the campsite’s various spaces. In 2024, the artist created a large work under the covered area. Two years later, he completed this project with three murals installed under the arches of the main walkway.

In November 2024, Ben Caillous spent four days creating a 10-meter by 3-meter mural under the covered area of ​​Camping Amélia.
This artwork depicts a journey through the Pyrénées-Orientales region. The route begins in Amélie-les-Bains, recognizable by its Saint-Martin church, then continues towards the Canigou peak before reaching Collioure.
At the center of the mural, a small Catalan boy wearing a barretina (a traditional Catalan hat) rides his bicycle through the landscape. Around him, several postcards illustrate iconic locations to discover near Camping Amélia.
Thus, this creation celebrates local heritage while inviting vacationers to explore the region.

Three murals to be installed in the campsite in 2026

In 2026, the collaboration between Ben Caillous and Camping Amélia continued with the creation of three murals under the arches of the main walkway.
These works depict three characters and three scenes of daily life, each telling the story of the campsite’s spirit in its own way. They evoke tranquility, childhood memories, simple moments, daydreaming, and a connection with nature.
Each visitor can therefore project their own story onto the murals and interpret the characters according to their own sensibilities.
Thanks to his gentle and recognizable style, Ben Caillous extends the artistic universe begun under the covered area in 2024. Now, Ben Caillous’s murals at Camping Amélia form a true artistic trail within the campsite.

Ben Caillous, street artist from Pyrénées-Orientales

After studying film, Ben Caillous turned to street art. For the past ten years, he has been drawing his characters on the walls of various towns in the Catalan Country and beyond.
His work is primarily inspired by childhood, poetry, and comics. His creations are easily recognizable thanks to their expressive characters and the recurring presence of a small red heart.
This collaboration also showcases the work of a local artist to vacationers, spa visitors, and other travelers passing through Amélie-les-Bains.

A collaboration born in Cerdagne

Ben Caillous and Charlène, manager of Camping Amélia, have known each other since primary school in Saillagouse, Cerdagne.
After pursuing different paths, they reconnected several years later through this artistic project. Together, they conceived works reflecting the campsite’s identity, the local landscapes, and the relaxed lifestyle of the Vallespir region.
This personal history lends a unique dimension to their collaboration.
